Chester Hotspots: Nightlife
For many students, nightlife is an important part of the university experience. Although the City of Chester is smaller than the likes of Manchester or Liverpool, there is a venue to suit every occasion, from casual drinks down the pub to dancing the night away. Before we give you a run through of the best places to go, we should probably tell you that student nights are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. So, without further ado, we’ve put together a guide to help you get acquainted with Chester nightlife.
The Best Pubs in Chester
Chester is home to a varied pub scene, from traditional pubs with roaring log fires to the bars with the dance floors that are open to the early hours.

Off the Wall is a student favourite due to cheap entry prices on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday night! It’s also very close to Cruise, so you won’t have to walk far when it’s time to hit a nightclub!

While The Architect serves really nice food and drink, it has made our list because it’s one of the nicest places to go for a drink in the sun. It has a large outdoor beer garden overlooking Chester Racecourse with lots of seating. If seating has already filled up, you can also just sprawl on the grass and soak up the sun. Drinks are reasonably priced, and they have a large selection of gin (if that’s what you’re into!)

Chester Nightlife Dress Code
Individual venues have their own dress code, so it might be worth checking before you go. However, as a rule, smart casual is the way forward. You will probably find that there are places who do not allow people in who are wearing trainers or converse after a certain time. Also, always take ID. Venues such as Cruise are particularly strict when it comes to identification. Don’t cut your evening short!
