How to look after your wellbeing in lockdown

There’s no denying that the current situation in the UK (and the rest of the world) is a bit mad. If you would’ve told us 6 months ago that the country would be in complete lockdown because of a deadly virus from the other side of the planet, we would have told you to get lost! The lack of social contact, isolation, stress and anxiety of everything is bound to have an effect on everyone sooner or later, so we’ve come up with some tips to try and restore some normality and make sure youre feeling great.

Structure!

Going from jam packed, 12 hour days to all of a sudden having nothing to do can leave you feeling sluggish and a bit useless. It’s important to try and keep some form of structure to your day to avoid falling into a slump. Try and get up fairly early at the same time every day (with the occasional lie in for your sanity), this will lead to you sleeping better at night as well as making it easier to get back to normal when the time comes. Eat breakfast, lunch and tea and similar times every day, and have a set time for activities, exercise, and working. The days will go quicker if you plan your time and have things to do!

Exercise!

Try and do something every day to get your blood pumping and keep your fitness up. It can be hard to know what to do with gyms and leisure centres closed for the foreseeable, but there are tonnes of at home and outdoor workout ideas available online, especially on Instagram! Pick up a mat, some resistance bands and some weights (if you can get your hands on some) and you’re all set for a sweaty strength session, or alternatively go for a jog around the park and see if you can beat your PB. Even if its just going for a walk somewhere, or running up and down the stairs for 20 minutes, exercising will keep your fitness levels up, keep the extra weight from creeping on, and get some good endorphins pumping around your body. What’s not to love!

Self Care <3

Now is the perfect time for a glow up! There are plenty of at home beauty treatments you can order to keep yourself looking fire. Facemasks, hair masks, at home hair cuts and dyes, nail kits, eyelash kits, brow kits, the list goes on; everyone knows looking good makes you feel good! Go through your old clothes and sort out what you can sell and give away to charities, itll make you feel good and free up some space in your wardrobe too.

Limit time spent watching the News

The news can be a good source of information regarding Covid and the current restrictions, however becoming dependant on it can lead to anxiety and dread taking over your life. Everyone knows the news isn’t exactly known for being the most positive thing, so try to limit how long and how often you watch it. Try to fill your life with other, positive news to show you there is some good in the world!
