Beat the heat with these summer cocktails

We've selected five great cocktail recipes that you can use for your BBQs, picnics and long lazy summer afternoons.
1. Blackberry wine slushies
When it is too hot for a glass of red wine, this blender drink will cool you down.
Recipe:
- 1/2 bottle of fruity red wine
- 6 ounces fresh blackberries
- 1-2 tablespoons simple syrup (or agave nectar, honey, or sugar)
- 1-2 shots liquor of choice (vodka, gin, rum, tequila), optional
Blend it until smooth.
2. Mojito
Nothing is as refreshing as a cold mojito - an all-time classic.
Recipe
- 3 mint leaves
- 1/2-ounce simple syrup
- 2 ounces white rum
- 3/4-ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- Club soda, to top
- Garnish: mint sprig
- Garnish: lime wheel
3. Blueberry vodka smash
Recipe
- 8 large mint leaves, plus more to garnish
- ¼ cup blueberries, plus more to garnish
- 2 ounces vodka
- ¾ ounces lime juice, plus wedges to garnish
- ¾ ounce simple syrup
- Crushed ice, for serving
- Place the mint leaves and blueberrieі in cocktail shaker. –
- Muddle (gently mash) them to extract their flavour.
- Add the vodka, lime juice, simple syrup, and 4 ice cubes. Shake until cold, then pour everything into a glass.
4. Limoncello spritz
Recipe
- 3 ounces Prosecco
- 2 ounces limoncello
- 1 ounce soda water
- Optional: lemon slices and mint leaves for garnish
Pour it all in. Fill a glass half full of ice. Pour in the Prosecco, limoncello, and soda water.
5. Aperol Spritz
Recipe
- 3 ounces Aperol
- 3 ounces dry Prosecco
- 1 ounce (a splash) club soda or unflavoured sparkling water
- Orange slice, for garnish
- Add ice to a wine glass until it is nearly full
- Pour in the Aperol
- Pour in an equal amount of Prosecco
Top your drink off with a splash of club soda and add a slice of orange
