Moving out of your student house soon?

We know moving out can be stressful, and it is easy to forget what needs to be done before move out day. But no worries! We have made a checklist for you of what needs to be done!

Your Bedroom

  • All personal belongings should be removed, and no rubbish should be left behind whatsoever (in drawers, wardrobes or in bags)
  • The room should be vacuumed (this includes behind or under your bed)
  • All surfaces should be cleaned
  • Any repairs should be logged with your landlord

The Kitchen

  • All cupboards must be completely empty and cleaned inside
  • Fridge/Freezers must be empty of all food and cleaned inside and the last tenant to leave the property must turn them off and leave an old tea towel/towel at the base to absorb any water
  • All surfaces and the sink must be cleaned
  • The floor must be mopped
  • The oven and inside of the microwave must be cleaned
  • Any repairs should be logged with your landlord

The Bathrooms

  • The shower/bath/sinks should be cleaned thoroughly
  • The toilet must be cleaned and bleached
  • Countertops should be cleaned
  • All mirrors wiped down
  • All cabinets or bathroom storage cleared out and no items left behind
  • The floor must be mopped
  • Any repairs should be logged with your landlord

Living Room/Landing/Hallway

  • All personal belongings should be removed, and nothing should be left behind that was not present at the start of your Tenancy
  • The floor must be vacuumed (Under/behind sofas)
  • Shelves/surfaces should be dusted and cleaned
  • Any repairs should be logged with your landlord

Front/Back Yard

  • Completely free from bin bags/rubbish/traffic cones or items

 

OTHER

If you have appliances or things you need to get rid of, we suggest you try to sell it on Marketplace, donate it to one of the many charity shops in the city centre, or simply give it away on the University of Chester's facebook page!
